Reem speaks fondly of a moment in her work that has stayed with her. “A severely malnourished child came into our care. The situation was not looking hopeful, but we refused to give up on his treatment. We were determined that this child would have a future.” Today, he is a healthy boy who has a chance at life. “This was a moment where I stopped and thought, ‘Yes, we are making a difference in people’s lives.’”
But Reem’s efforts do not come without challenges. “Security concerns due to ongoing conflict means we struggle to reach remote areas, and limited resources means communities face barriers to good healthcare,” Reem shares.
Despite these obstacles, Reem and her team remain resolute.
They coordinate with local authorities to ensure safe access to healthcare, use mobile clinics to reach isolated populations, and collaborate with local partners to enhance communities’ health and nutrition.
