Bournemouth MP Joins Bourenmouth Foodbank at TESCO Winter Food Collection

Bournemouth, 2 December 2024 – Bournemouth East MP Tom Hayes joined volunteers at Bournemouth Foodbank’s Tesco Winter Food Collection this past weekend to encourage donations and raise awareness of the growing need for foodbank support in the community. Hayes, who handed out shopping lists to customers on Saturday, praised the generosity of residents while highlighting the broader issue of food insecurity.

“While it’s heartening to see everyone’s generosity, I look forward to a future where far fewer people need to rely on food banks to put food on their tables,” said Tom Hayes.

The Tesco Winter Food Collection, held from 28 to 30 November, provided a vital boost to Bournemouth Foodbank’s supplies as the organization faces record demand. Since April, the foodbank has distributed over 50,000 meals, including more than 12,000 for children, as the cost-of-living crisis continues to impact local families.
The collection coincided with the launch of Bournemouth Foodbank’s Christmas Crowdfunder, a campaign to raise funds for food parcels and operational costs during the festive season.

“With so many families facing challenges this winter, our Christmas Crowdfunder is vital to ensure we can meet the growing demand for support,” said John Saborido, PR and Communications Manager at Bournemouth Foodbank. “We encourage everyone to donate and help us make sure no one in Bournemouth goes hungry this holiday season.”

The Crowdfunder aims to provide food parcels filled with essential items, toiletries, and festive treats while supporting operational expenses like warehousing and distribution to ensure food reaches those in need. Donate here: https://bit.ly/christmas-cf-24-pr
