A Sensational Night: 2011 Canadian Chinese Students’ Arts Charity Auction Raises over $38,000 for UNICEF Canada

In light of current global disasters and conflicts, the Canadian Chinese Merit Student Council in conjunction with Merit Education and 7 Stones Studio has partnered with UNICEF Canada to host the 2011 Canadian Chinese Students’ Arts Charity Auction on April 17, 2011 at the Hilton Suites in Markham, Ontario.

A weeklong Canadian Chinese Youth “Hope” Calligraphy, Painting, Photography Charity Art Exhibition was held at various locations across Markham leading up to the event. All proceeds raised was donated to UNICEF Canada, the world’s leading child-focused humanitarian and development agency. Through their innovative programs and advocacy work, UNICEF save children’s lives and secure their rights, playing an instrumental role in shaping a world in which all children can grow up safe, healthy and educated; and protected against violence, abuse and discrimination.

We believe that this would be a great opportunity not only for young Chinese-Canadians to showcase their talents, but also for all members in the community to show their support and love for children who are suffering from earthquakes, diseases, wars and other disasters. It is also our wish that this event would help build a stronger cross-cultural understanding, which will be vital to the success of our youth and community, both now and in the future.
