The Government of Ontario announced that the new minimum wage in Ontario will be $17.60 per hour, effective October 1, 2025. The new minimum wage will be the second-highest provincial rate in Canada. The increase in minimum wage aims to support Ontario workers, with up to an extra $835 in earnings each year (based on a 40-hour work week). For organizations interested in learning more, access the Employment Standards Act, which sets minimum rights for most employees in Ontario, including minimum wage rates. Under the Employment Standards Act, the minimum wage rates are set and adjusted annually based on changes to Ontario’s consumer price index in the previous year.
