CERIC published the results of the 2024 Survey of Career Service Professionals, which provide a snapshot of the state of the career development field. The survey is only conducted every four to five years, and was previously conducted in 2019 and 2015. The comprehensive survey provides data on the evolving state of the career services community in Canada amid labour market and economic shifts.
A total of 1,033 career professionals across Canada were surveyed in October 2024. The findings highlight the pressing issues facing career professionals, their priorities for professional development, and evolving client needs.
The 2024 survey includes:
- Demographics, salary, career progression, competency improvement and research gaps in the career development field
- A special section on artificial intelligence and career development, exploring career professionals’ experiences with AI and client expectations around AI in counselling
- An updated understanding of the needs, anxieties and myths that career professionals hear from their clients and students, as well as public perceptions of the career development field
