Soldiers from 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment and the Amphibious Ready Element (ARE) move from HMAS Canberra to Atherton tablelands and conduct a simulated Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief (HADR) activity as part of Exercise Sea Series.

Australia’s newest military capability, the Amphibious Ready Element (ARE) is training in the waters off Far North Queensland from August to October.
The Townsville based 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment (2 RAR from the 3rd Combat Brigade) with MRH-90 helicopters from the 5th Aviation Regiment and 808 Squadron, have combined with the Navy’s HMAS Canberra and Royal Australian Air Force assets to focus on the planning, conduct and certification of amphibious operations.
This Sea Series of exercises will enable the amphibious force to achieve an interim operational capability.
