The National Gallery of Canada invites nominations for the 2025 Lacey Prize, recognizing the activities and impact of small organizations and artist-run spaces in Canada. The Lacey Prize is made possible thanks to the support of the Naomi and John Lacey Family and the National Gallery of Canada Foundation. Celebrate the small centres and the important work they do in supporting visual art in Canada – particularly their contributions to emerging and experimental practices, and the role they play within their local communities by nominating them for the 2025 Lacey Prize.

A cash prize of $50,000 is awarded to the first-place winner, and cash prizes of $20,000 are awarded to two runners-up. A contemporary art curator from the National Gallery of Canada will travel to the city of the winning organization for in-person site and studio visits with local artists.

Eligibility criteria for nominees:

  • Nonprofit organizations in Canada with a mandate to present contemporary visual art.
  • Have been in operation for at least two years as of deadline.
  • Please note that only one submission per nominee will be accepted. No self-nominations will be accepted.
  • Commercial or for-profit organizations, magazines, individual artists/curators and ad hoc collectives are NOT eligible.

Deadline for Nominations: October 12th, 2025 at 6 p.m. EST
