The CRA Charities Directorate invites charities impacted by the wildfires or a natural disaster to reach out to the CRA for assistance. The CRA acknowledges that charities affected by the wildfires may be unable to meet filing obligations due to extraordinary circumstances.
According to the CRA Charities Directorate, as a registered charity, you can help victims of a disaster or emergency. When doing so, remember that you can raise funds and transfer them to a qualified donee, or you can carry out your own activities within the scope of your charitable purposes. The Government of Canada is matching donations to the Canadian Red Cross to support wildfire disaster relief and recovery efforts in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
