✍ A long-standing partner, Germany was the third largest contributor to UNICEF in 2019, playing a critical role in improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people across the world. In 2019, Germany continued its strong investment in unearmarked, multi-year core contributions to UNICEF. It was a top-five contributor to health, nutrition, education, WASH, child protection and humanitarian programmes.
In 2019, Germany renewed its commitment to child rights by aligning with the global voluntary pledge “For every child, every right”, marking the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Germany has also responded to the UN Secretary-General’s call for countries to prioritize children’s education, food, health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic by signing the global statement Protect the children.
In this video, I have interviewed Michele Deutschmann, who has been volunteering for UNICEF for past 6 years. ✍
