Red Cross urgently asking for plasma donations during COVID-19 pandemic
ST. GEORGE, Utah (1/11/21) – The American Red Cross has put out an urgent plea asking for donations of convalescent plasma during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The need arises after an increase in coronavirus cases in the last few months. Hospital distribution of the blood product has increased 250% since October.
According to Red Cross officials, those who have recovered from COVID-19 may have antibodies in their plasma that could provide a patient’s immune system the most it needs to beat the virus.
