The Charities Directorate has published a quarterly update for the sector, which includes highlights from the past year.
A review of the past year’s updates:
- Updated guidance: Revised guidance CG-029, Relief of poverty and charitable registration, to include updated terminology, information on new rules for making grants to non-qualified donees, and more details and examples on how charities can provide affordable housing
- Improved compliance resources: Updated the Compliance within the charitable sector web page to explain the Charities Directorate’s approach to compliance and feature updated statistics
- Terrorist abuse awareness: Published new resources for Educating charities about the risks of terrorist abuse, including an infographic and detailed checklist
- Improved content: Refreshed many web pages to enhance user experience, simplify language, and ensure up-to-date information on topics such as:
- Website optimization: Started work to optimize the Charities and giving website to make information easier to find and understand for both the charitable sector and the public
