The Canadian Centre for Nonprofit Digital Resilience, in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University, the dais, Imagine Canada, Blueprint, and the Digital Governance Council, released the Assessing the Digital Skills Gap in Canadian Nonprofits report. As the Canadian nonprofit sector continues to undergo significant digital transformation, organizations face challenges keeping up with the increasing demand for digital skills.
The study captured survey responses from 284 sector leaders, 11 interviews were conducted, one focus group was held, and an environmental scan was also conducted. The survey found that 81% of managers and front-line staff perceived digital skills as crucial for mission achievement and daily operations. According to the research, skill gaps emerged between current skillsets and organizational needs. The largest skill gap was for ‘privacy and data security,’ followed by ‘using data for decision-making’ and ‘data collection, management, and analysis.’
