An exciting new outdoor learning experience is being launched at The Treehouse in Hurn, near Bournemouth Airport.

‘Nature Nook’ is a welcoming outdoor space designed to inspire curiosity, confidence and creativity through nature-based learning with a number of outdoor sessions:  

Little Seedlings: a group for under 5s exploring nature crafts, planting, story time and much more.

Thursdays (during Dorset term time): 10am-11.30am

Home Ed Sessions: sessions for those aged between 6 and 18 years old who are out of school or in alternative provision to spend time in our Nature Nook learning a range of nature-based skills and taking part in physical activities such as wide games, sports and obstacle courses.

Thursdays (during Dorset term time): 12.30pm-2.30pm

Holiday Club: for children aged 8 to 14 during the school holidays to enjoy a range of nature-based activities such as fire lighting, green wood crafts, and den building.

Mondays and Thursday during summer holidays: 8.30am-3pm or 8.30am-4pm

The sessions are being run by Diverse Abilities by a team with strong experience of supporting children with special educational, however these sessions are open to all children, including those without additional needs. 

Lily Felstead, Short Breaks Deputy Manager at Diverse Abilities, commented: “We are really looking forward to welcoming people to the Nature Nook for some engaging outdoor sessions for all ages. We’ve got fantastic activities in our Nature Nook forest school area, including mud kitchens, a fire pit, den building, outdoor skills and a changing place, which we can’t wait to open up to the wider community.”
