Future of Good and QuakeLab release Canada’s first Top 50 Equitable Funders ranking

Future of Good and QuakeLab released Canada’s first Top 50 Equitable Funders ranking for Canadian charitable foundations. Based on thorough research and analysis, the ranking spotlights grantmakers centring and advancing equity, inclusion and anti-racism in their governance, team, investing, and grantmaking. Canada’s largest 500 funders, based on asset size, were eligible to be included in this ranking. 

Key findings from the study:

  • 90% of grantmakers do not publicly share their investment portfolio. 
  • 6% of grantmakers have a public DEI statement on their website.
  • 8% of grantmakers publicly state that they offer core operational funding.
  • 6 grantmakers have executive teams who are 100% representative of the people they fund.
  • 89% of grantmakers do not offer funding for periods longer than one year.
